The Pick to Light is a software and hardware system that automates the entire assortment process, by means of luminous displays. We will detail the features and advantages that can bring to your operations:
- Assortment stations
The system is divided into several areas called assortment areas. Each one has assigned a certain number of luminous displays and a certain amount of SKUs associated to those displays.
If we have a distribution center of 1000 SKUs where several operators work simultaneously, it will be divided by assortment stations of 200 SKUs for each one, thus achieving 5 work zones.
In each assortment area a sub-classification is made so that the whole system is balanced, then each station will have products of low, medium and high rotation. This generates a work balance for the operator and avoids excessive workloads.
- Standardized process
The Pick to Light places a display next to the product, achieving a completely standardized operation in order assortment.
When an order with several containers enters, it is scanned and the assortment zones are automatically illuminated so that the operator begins to take the indicated products and the quantity requested. Afterwards, these are placed into the indicated containers, which continue their way by the conveyors from zone to zone.
If there is a missing product, the operator can update the software directly. Finally the whole process is coupled to the automatic closing system and it is possible to send it to the shipping area.
- Quality control
The same software has a quality control module coupled to a dynamic scale. The scale checks the theoretical weight of the order with the actual weight, if the difference is large, it is rejected for revision. In this way it is known exactly who put the order, on what date and all the information required to verify the reliability of the operation.
