# 2 fundamental tools for a good logistics manager.

The pressure over the logistics manager is very strong, because of the global responsibilities and results to which he is exposed. Their biggest concerns derive from knowing and controlling; what is happening in their operation? And how is going the order fulfillment for the customers? Likewise, the use of IT is the key that will help you to streamline and precise operations.

We present 2 important tools for logistics managers:

 

**1.- Software (WMS, TMS)**

Small industries begin to modernize, one of their first implements is a Warehouse Control System, a WMS.

The WMS provides warehouse inbound control, crossdocking control, fulfillment control, outbound control, transport appointment scheduling, etc. In addition, operators remain calm due to the reliability of the global information at the moment of consultation.

On the side, there is an external control, the Transportation Management System (TMS). It is a software that controls the entire transport system that allows to know where the trucks/cargo trailers are, which routes are the best, how long it takes a truck/trailer to reach its destination, and so on. With the implementation of the TMS, the manager remains safe, avoids alarm points, assaults, delays, at the same time to expand visibility and control.

 

**2.- Order fulfillment technologies**

Managers must face the demands of the ever-changing market. It is very common that now thousands of orders are delivered daily, with a few or/and different product. The distribution center fulfill in items, carton boxes or pallets, and the processes can be assisted with fulfillment technology such as Pick to Belt, Pick to Light, Pick to Voice, or Put to Store. Determine which one, will depend 100% of the industry sector, product and the times that the client wishes.

To finish, managers should not forget that e-commerce is the most avant-garde sales channel that exists. The companies begin to see it as a need, because the direct customer stops consuming in self-service stores and asks directly to the company, or to a distribution center. For this reason, the response and delivery flows should be as fast as possible.

Analyze each technological solution that provides productivity increases to your industry. It does not always require a strong investment and space to have the most sophisticated technologies.
