3 tips to significantly reduce waste in your production plant

Blog 2 (redes sociales)-1

Within production plants, it is common to find several points where certain deficiencies or losses in products may occur due to their type of handling as they are finished products.

To prevent this situation from occurring in your plant, we share the following 3 tips:

 1. Analyze the flow of the finished product

It is necessary to review what the raw material and finished product flows are, clearly determining both their final destination within the production plant and their temporary storage destination, as the case may be.  In this way, it is easier to define the most suitable transport system to correctly move them to those areas.

  • Suggestion: For greater security of your products, we recommend you transport at the box level or at the pallet level.

When the distance between the end of the production lines and the storage area is very long (i.e. between 1 and 1.5 km), it is more convenient to transport the product in boxes through a special conveyor system for material handling. Of course, previously the path has to be analyzed as such to determine the best system solution.

However, if you prefer to handle the product at the pallet level, there are also pallet conveyor systems that help prevent potential damage from the use of forklifts for shipments.

 2. Ensure you have a correct fasten pattern

When stored on a pallet level in a production plant, products often have little stability due to movement. Therefore, in these cases, the most recommended is to implement an automatic palletizing system, since it provides a better quality of mooring and, therefore, greater stability to the product within the warehouse.

Another advantage of this type of system is that the efficiency and quality of the arrangement of products within the pallets are increased considerably.

 3. Take care of the shrink wrap quality

When the pallets are already assembled, it is convenient to analyze whether they can be concentrated in an automatic or semi-automatic platform (in which a forklift has to carry them).

Similarly, we recommend evaluating whether the pallets can be moved to the loading area through an automatic conveyor system or even through AGVs that allow the movement of pallets to be as smooth as possible to avoid damaging the fasten quality and thus, they are positioned correctly.
