All industries want to find the maximum point of profitability. However, to achieve these premises, desire is not enough, it is necessary to start from a solid strategy and ally ourselves with powerful technologies that help us with the task.
If you are looking for solutions for your materials flow, and you feel insecure about making a
decision about one technology or another, just keep reading this blog. We will guide you on
the most powerful solutions!
Why can’t you afford poor material flow?
Intralogistics technologies that optimize the flow of materials
Below we share some of the most important technologies for the flow of materials:
● PTL or PTV systems for Kitting. As we know, Kitting is essential to guarantee the correct supply of components that will form part of a particular sub-assembly or of the finished product. To meet such a need, Pick to Voice and Pick to Light integrations are required.
● Classifiers. The type of technology and solution that adds more advantages to the
material flow is determined based on the type of criteria, the type of product, the size and the flow of the products. Among the most powerful sorters we find: Shoe sorter, Cross belt, Narrow belt, Push sorter, Pop up Wheel.
● AGVs. AGVs or automatically guided vehicles are a technology that provides the ability to carry out unitary movements of various types of products that, due to their morphology or the type of movement, are not convenient to handle with conveyors.
There are already artificial intelligence applications that allow it to "think" and decide its own trajectories, apart from the obstacles that may be changing and that the AGV understands. This has become a subcategory called Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs).
● Robotic palletizing. Within robotized palletizing, there are different types of tooling, degrees of freedom, sizes, speeds, configuration forms per pallet that make this method more recommendable when the flexibility to assemble different formats is a priority. In conventional palletizing, high flows can be achieved with less versatility to accommodate a number of formats.
● Automatic warehouses. Depending on the product/goods, the flow of materials and the available space, various types of warehouses can be integrated, for example: vertical carousel, horizontal carousel, Shuttle VLM, Unitload AS/RS, Miniload AS/RS,
Vertical Buffer Module.
● In addition to this, all the technologies that help the operation can be considered, to move products from one point to another, before or after production.
How to choose the operation/technology for your material flow?
The decision of a correct development of the operation will always be made through information, guidance and experience. We share some of the points that have strengthened our methodology in material flow:
1. Evaluate what real or problematic needs your operation has.
2. Is there a Layout of the project?
3. Consider which KPI´s you want to optimize.
4. What is the actual budget allocated for the project?
At G.I.Eicom we have state-of-the-art technology; however, our most significant added value is the expertise of more than 35 years as leaders in the sector. This experience gives us solid knowledge and assertiveness in the designs and integrations for the flow of materials in any sector.
