For that reason, we would like to share with you one of our successful cases of conveyors and sorters implementation in a renowned food company.
The problem
The company has a production plant with different line of products. They assemble the pallets manually at the end-of-line and then these were transported to the warehouse. This process did not provide safety places for both staff and product handling. Walking lanes were constantly occupied by forklifts.
The solution
Due to the fact that the warehouse was located at more of 1km away from the production plant, it was a big challenge to define all elements of the solution, in which we can find an elevated bridge that transport boxes of products while trucks are passing underneath.
Our engineering area implemented different picking systems through different kind of conveyors.
These systems gather all lines into three sub-lines and eventually, these flows are gathered in a conveyor intersection for transporting this flow all the way to the warehouse. The following technologies were implemented based on high flows.:
- Merge
- Accumulating conveyor.
- Indexing conveyors.
- Shoe sorters
Once the product is transported to the finished products’ warehouse, it is sorted according to the line of production. Two shoe sorter systems were used for the sortation process, which can read bar codes and efficiently sort products within a rate of 140 per minute approx.
The result
The positive result is evident due to saving in operation costs, optimization of productive areas, zero-accident environment and creation of institutional order and control with no inventory losses.
